The qualifications and pay rates shown are for the Medical Assistant, Senior job title.

Responsibilities:
nnWork directly with Manager to identify opportunities for improvement with regards to Clinical/Non-Clinical functions, Infection Control Procedures, and Patient Assessments.
nMust be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in all practice category-specific tasks.
nObtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
nComplete forms/requisitions as needed.
nSchedule appointments.
nVerify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
nPerform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
nPerform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.
nAssist physicians with procedures.
nDocument patient information in the medical record.
nGuide routine meetings with staff to communicate procedural changes to improve service quality and patient safety.
nGuides workflow and/or assigns tasks to other clinical staff.
nServe as the department super user for Epic Care.
nAnswering calls, and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
nAssist management staff with supervisory activities.
nParticipates with the creation and implementation of departmental goals, processes, and procedures.
nMentors, orients, and provides ongoing training to current and new staff members.
nCheck schedules and organize patient flow.
nAccompany patients to the exam/procedure room.
nAssist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
nCollect patient information/history; take vitals, perform screenings per provider guidelines.
nRelay instructions to patients/families.
nMay provide more individualized patient/family education and supportive counseling as needed.
nSend/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
nComply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.
e.
OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
n Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
n Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
nPrepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
nOther front office responsibilities, as required.
nPrepare patient rooms, set up instruments, and equipment according to department protocol.
nClean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
nClean according to the scheduled maintenance program and keep appropriate records.
nManage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
nUnder the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
nnHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.
nSuccessful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) OR at least 1 year of patient care experience required.
nMust be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category-specific tasks.
nMust have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
nCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
