Conquering Opioid Abuse Together (COAT)

The Conquering Opiate Abuse Together (COAT) in Western Maryland program will have AmeriCorps members serving with the prescription drug and opiate crisis by educating the community on resources and programs available to them in the four westernmost counties in Maryland: Allegany, Garrett, Washington, and Frederick. In first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for engaging community members in open community forums, one-on-one meetings, hotlines, and other outreach activities to distribute resource materials.This program will focus on the CNCS focus area of Healthy Futures: Reducing and/or preventing prescription drug and opioid abuse.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
